Mists of Avalon
May. 9th, 2008 03:37 pmI'm thinking about reading Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley, since my friends seem to have read it and adored it.
Of course, my friends have also said that it tends to be a bit anti-Christian, and my best friend once summarized up the plot as "the Christians try to take over Avalon". The reason I'm leery about reading this book is because it seems to portray Christianity in a terrible light, and I'm not sure if I'd be able to get through it without needing to scream and/or throw it across the room.
So, my questions are:
Have any of you read Mists of Avalon and, if so, how anti-Christian is it? Is that the entire plot, or could a strong Christian like me conceivably read it and enjoy it?
Thanks for any help. :)
