I'm not going to get the part in the skit.

I didn't practice, they're going to think that I don't care, and they'll give it to the pastor's daughter instead. And then I'll probably have to be the drunk girl.

Me = fail. Massive fail.

Well, if you *know* you need to practice, practice!

If you *try*, you'll get the part, dear. But you need to *try*. I know you want the part badly enough - I know you want to put the effort into it - now you need to stop trying to talk yourself *out* of it, and talk yourself *into* trying and doing it.

You *can* do it. You just need to believe that yourself.

Hopefully that all actually made sense...

There's a saying. God helps those who help themselves. Whether it's true depends on where one lies on the theism-atheism conundrum (or continuum, but it's more complicated than that), but the point holds nonetheless. Go practice.
